Sex slavery during the Japanese colonial period in Indonesia left behind a dark story of the Ianfus who were comfort women who were taken forcibly by Japanese soldiers. In 1945, when the Japanese left Indonesia, the Ianfus were released but in poor physical and mental condition.

The pain remained in their soul, haunting them, along with the social stigma of their past life as sexual slaves.
